Tip of the Week #1: Electrolytes

Seawater is a natural, organic, environmentally-friendly alternative to other metal preservatives.  Try filling a bottle of salted water (use the industry-standard ratio of 2 tablespoons per quart).  Then, every other day, give your guns a brief misting with the seawater simulant.  Repeat for as long as you wish to preserve your firearms.

If you notice a red or brown coloration forming on your firearms, that’s called a “patina” and is an important part of the preservation process.  Once it forms a complete patine on all parts, it will fall off naturally.

Remember: seawater contains electrolytes.  It’s what firearms crave.

Started shooting guns with my daddy. Shoot a lot of guns now. Hope to teach my grandson how to shoot one day.
